I wish someone had told me..

Hey friend, hope you had a great weekend.

Wanted to share something with you all today.

I wish someone had told me that confidence doesn’t just come with landing in a new country, it comes with showing up. Over and over again.

When I started at Deakin, everything felt new. Big. A little scary.

But I signed up for the mentor-mentee program, and I was paired with a mentor who genuinely cared. That little support? It gave me the push I didn’t even know I needed.

A few months later, I signed up to become a mentor myself, just because I had this deep urge to give back. To help someone else feel a little less lost.

And guess what? That small step led me to a job as a Student Central Ambassador. But more than the job, it built me.

It gave me confidence in this whole new world. Confidence in how I speak, how I carry myself, how I help others. The kind of confidence that doesn’t show on paper, but you feel it inside. And that is what makes all the difference during those interviews, not that entry on your resume.

So if you’re just starting out, wherever you are, whichever uni you’re at, please don’t just stick to the classes and the assignments.

Join that club.

Say hi to your professor.

Show up to events even if you feel shy.

Volunteer. Be curious. Be present.

Not just for your resume, but for you.

For your growth. For your joy. For that quiet, inner belief that says: “Yes, I can do this.”

And you never know what door it might open next.

Hope you have a great week ahead.
