What if your struggles were actually… normal?
Hey you,
Let me tell you a little story.
Back when I was still figuring things out after moving abroad, I used to walk into rooms such as uni classes, job interviews, networking events and literally pretend I had it all together.
On the outside, I smiled, spoke clearly, nodded like I understood every word.
But inside?
I was constantly questioning myself. (ALWAYS!!)
Am I doing enough?
Why does everyone else seem so confident?
Why am I still struggling when I’ve worked this hard?
I thought something was wrong with me because I still had bad days…
Until one day, I sat down for coffee with a friend who seemed like she had it all, a great job, amazing grades, glowing Instagram feed.
And she said: “You know, I still feel like I’m winging it most days.”
That conversation shifted something for me.
I realised three powerful truths:
Every confident person still feels insecure.
Every successful person still fails.
Every happy person still struggles.
Read that again. Because sometimes, we forget. (I sure do)
We assume that once we hit a certain milestone like get that job, land the visa, earn the degree, our struggles will magically disappear.
But they don’t. (trust me, they don't)
What changes is how we carry those struggles. How we respond to them.
That’s where growth really begins.
So this week, I invite you to try something with me:
Drop an unreasonable expectation you’ve had for yourself.
Maybe it’s “I should’ve figured out my life by now” or “I shouldn’t be struggling anymore.”
Let it go, even just for this week and see how it feels.
